On May 15, 2021, the Gaza refugee camp and an office housing international media were attacked by a bomb. The bomb has been said to be orchestrated by Israel as a new flurry of Hamas missiles rained down on Tel Aviv Saturday. “The Israeli airstrikes annihilated more than 130 people and injured about 1000 people in Gaza alone as rioting, and mob violence between Arabs and Jews marred cities and towns throughout Israel”, said the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza.

Al-Qassam Brigades, the militant wing of Hamas, said, “the bomb attack was retaliated with dozens of missiles towards Tel Aviv on Saturday.” This resulted in a 50-year-old man being killed early Saturday afternoon after the missile hit several buildings in a residential area in a Tel Aviv suburb called Ramat Gan. However, according to Israel’s emergency service, the death toll after the missile is 10.

The misfortune in Gaza destroyed a 3-story house and annihilated 10 members of a child’s family at the al-Shati refugee camp. The child is the sole survivor who was sent to Shifa Hospital in Gaza. Also, about 20 other Palestinians were wounded, according to the Palestinian News Agency WAFA. However, the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza accused the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) of “direct targeting crowed civilian inhabitants” and failing to take precautionary measures to spare civilian lives.

On Saturday, the Palestinian Health Ministry reported that about 139 people had been eradicated in Gaza and at least 39 children. In addition, the injuries figure had risen to about 1000 people. Also, a report from Friday indicated that about 254 children sustained injuries from the Israeli airstrikes. Ashraf al-Quora, Gaza Health Ministry spokesman, implored the international community of the necessity to alleviate the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.

Following the Israeli bomb attack in Gaza, Hady Amr, the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Israel and Palestinian, was sent to Israel on Friday. A post from US Embassy in Jerusalem on Twitter indicated that Amr’s trip was purposed to “reinforce the need to work towards a sustainable calm and recognizing Israel’s right to self-defense.” The post added that Israelis and Palestinians deserve equal measures of freedom, security, dignity, and prosperity.

Unfortunately, efforts at international diplomacy so far seem to have stalled. The UN Security Council meeting on the violence is scheduled on Sunday morning; however, the US blocked previous Security Council efforts to meet, preferring direct diplomacy on the conflict rather than discussion in an international forum.

On Friday, an Israeli military official said that Israel is relentless to continue hitting “quality targets” for an “extended period.” Also, following the attack on Saturday, Al-Qassam Brigades, spokesperson of Hamas Militant Wing, said the Tel Aviv and central Israel residents should be prepared for a quaking response.
