As a website owner, I struggle with posting heartbreaking stories, such as the killings of two brothers at the hands of their older brother. According to reports, 25-year-old Hanad A. Abdiaziz, for reasons unknown, decided to take his two younger brothers’ lives last Friday. 16-year-old Abdulwahid and 14-year-old Abdirahman Abdulaziz were headed home after Ramadan service at the Somali Center of Kansas City.
Local authorities were able to locate Abdiaziz the next day, but sadly, instead of surrendering, Abdiaziz made a fatal decision. “Officers attempted to make contact [with] the suspect, but the suspect presented a short-barreled rifle,” Kansas City police said. “An officer fired his service weapon, striking the suspect. Officers immediately performed life-saving measures. Suspect was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.”
Abdulwahid and Abdulaziz were highly praised for their determination. “They were amazing. We have had no complaints from them they were not like trouble makers or something like this,” said Ayman Hassan, the boys’ teachers. Hassan said the boys were dedicated to their Islam beliefs. “Memorizing the whole Quran knowledgeable, well versed of Islam.”
A GoFundMe, which was set up to help raise funds to cover funeral costs for the brothers and other expenses, has raised over $60,000 – surpassing its $50,000 goal.
